January 2020 Newsletter

February 1, 2021 12:50 pm

We are coming to the end of January already, we hope that you managed to celebrate, rest and recuperate over Christmas and New Year.  So far, 2021 isn’t looking too different from the year we’ve left behind. In this second wave of the COVID Pandemic and third lockdown, we are all tackling those things we thought we had left behind such as home schooling and zoom meetings.  The start of the year has bought with it the reality that we will be living, working and socialising virtually and socially distanced for some time.  The one thing that is different about 2021 is that we now have the vaccine, which gives us a way forward, along with the learnings from 2020 that in every situation we need to think outside the box, adapt and carry on. We have got some great events for 2021 that we would like to share with you, as well as many still in the planning stage.  We can’t afford to let COVID stop us in our fight, and it will be great to have you by our side as we progress.

Challenge 2021 Whatever your personal goals this year, we would love to help you achieve them. It could be that you would like to learn a new language or run a 5k, whatever it is we are here to help.  We will help organise everything, put you in touch with likeminded individuals to spur you on and share ideas, keep you accountable and above all party with you when you’ve accomplished it! More details

Alex meets Marianela Schiava The last time that Alex visited Newcastle he was so pleased to be able to meet Marianela Schiava. Marianela is the Clinical Research Associate, a position that Alex’s Wish funded £30,000 towards. Marianela’s role was identified to ensure that the data generated by the FOR DMD study will be used to address new clinical and research questions. The study seeks to provide detailed information about the effects of different corticosteroid regimes, which will assist families and clinicians in deciding the best treatment, and support trial design, including being used as a control group for current and future clinical trials.Read more…….
