We are excited to share with you that we have appointed a new Chairman of our Board of Trustees and a new Trustee.  Steve Dean, Managing Director of Vehicle Vision and Co-founder of Wellonomics joins as Chairman, with Sally Barnett, Head of New Street Barristers Chambers joining as our newest Trustee.

Emma spoke about the appointments saying, “We are incredibly lucky to have such supportive Trustees and as the charity has grown, we’ve added to their number.  Alex’s Wish continues to grow and so I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Sally and Steve to our Board of Trustees.  Both bring with them huge amounts of passion and energy as well as an incredible skill set each and both have been working with us, in the background, for a good while now so they know us and what Alex’s Wish is all about.”

Steve Dean, Chair of Trustees

Steve Dean, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, commented on his appointment saying, “I met Emma through Chris Everard and Vistage and was immediately impressed by her drive and enthusiasm.  Through our conversations it became clear that she was looking for a Chairman for her Board of Trustees and the more I got to know Emma and Alex’s Wish the more committed I became to the cause!  I was absolutely delighted when she asked me to join her Trustees as Chairman.”

Sally Barnett was introduced to us by now-fellow Trustee Glynis Wright of Glynis Wright & Co Family Solicitors & Mediators.  Speaking of her appointment as a Trustee Sally said, “I’ve been a barrister in family law for 31 years and have always been passionate about the work I do to support and help children and families. When Glynis first mentioned Alex’s Wish and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy I admit that I wasn’t very familiar with the disease but I was happy to meet with Emma.  Emma fizzes with energy and is incredibly effervescent and we had a really good conversation which led me to choose Alex’s Wish as the Chambers Charity of the Year.  We have since made Alex’s Wish our permanent charity for chambers and when Emma approached me about potentially becoming a Trustee I jumped at the chance.  This fabulous charity does such amazing work raising funds to research and bring to all children suffering with Duchenne treatments and, ultimately, a cure.  Supporting Emma and becoming a Trustee of Alex’s Wish really is the least I can do.”

Sally Barnett – Trustee

Adds Emma, “As a charity we are only ever as strong as those we work with be they volunteers, our core team of staff, Ambassadors, the businesses who choose to support us, or our Trustees. I can’t thank Steven and Sally enough for joining us and look forward to working with them for many years to come.”
