Cycling from London to Paris 290 miles over 3 days for Alex’s Wish – Cure Duchenne has been an INCREDIBLE journey.

Lots of highs, lots of lows, extreme heat, hills, hills, and more hills and climbs that feel like they go on for miles, falls, scrapes, bruises (many of these), tears, laughter, insert bites, sore bums, friction sores, sweat drenched lycra, grit, determination, positive mindset… the list goes on!! And that was just the ride, the hard work training for such an event is an achievement all in itself.

Despite all of this, it has been one of THE most enjoyable journeys, spent with THE most incredible people. New friendships made and memories have been created that will last a life time. I feel so proud, proud of myself and proud of everyone who took part, this is definitely not a ride in the park.

We all dug deep – especially on the Saturday when we had to cycle 97 miles from Calais to Amiens in blistering heat already tired from the previous day!! Leaving the port at 8am, we didn’t arrive into Amiens until 7pm – knowing we had to be back on our bikes again at 7.30am to do it all over again to get to Paris. But, knowing that the money raised is to support children living with #duchenne made every mile so worth while.

Huge congratulations to our cyclists Steph Merrill, George Pratt, Kevin Clarke, Andy Hallam, Richard Fielding, Richard Frape, Ed Cooper, Ella Stiles, Ian Taylor (aka Viv), Stacey Voss and Toby Frape – our youngest ever cyclist at just 18 years old (you did amazing)! It was a pleasure to ride with you all – thank you for being such super stars.

Our fabulous support crew Tom Hartree, Michelle Pamplin Roger Lanza, Rich Amphlett and Rob Day we could not have done this event with you all… you looked after us so well and made sure we were safe, hydrated, fed and supported. Thank you for volunteering your time. You all worked your socks off.
