Recruitment business Synergy Personnel has again chosen Alex’s Wish as its Charity of The Year, unveiling an action-packed programme of fundraising events this summer and autumn.

First up is the Lyke Wake Walk across the North York Moors on Tuesday June 21. Synergy’s intrepid managing director Gavin Dilkes is taking on the 42-mile route for the second successive year – but this time he’s planning to go there and back in just under a day.

Gavin will be running the length of the Walk with friend and business associate John Ghent, then turning round and heading back at a more leisurely pace with friends Trevor Short and Andy Shore. He expects to do the first part in about nine hours, finishing the whole challenge in around 22 hours.

On Sunday August 22, Gavin is taking part in the Leicestershire Round circular walk, in just one day. Starting and finishing at Bradgate Park, he intends to complete the 100 mile in one go without breaking off for a sleep.

The hiking boots will be back in action on Tuesday, 11th October, when Gavin and John take on another long-distance walk – this time Leicestershire’s 36-mile Ivanhoe Way. And, if all that wasn’t energetic enough, the pair also hope to fit in a run up Snowdon sometime in the summer.

Synergy Personnel, based in Enderby, is a keen supporter of Alex’s Wish, the Leicestershire charity raising money to help find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Founded by Emma Hallam, mum of Alex who lives with Duchenne, the charity is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Synergy is also a member of Alex’s Wish Ethical Business Club and will be volunteering at the charity’s annual Charnwood Forest Cycle Ride on 15th May.
