Oadby Owls Football Academy

We are delighted that Oadby Owls Football Academy has chosen Alex’s Wish as their charity of the year from 2012-2014.  Through a range of activities they aim to raise in excess of £10,000 to fund research into a cure or viable treatments for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  This partnership was made possible when Caroline Watkinson (one of Alex’s Wish Trustees) introduced Rob Farrar, the Chairman of Oadby Owls to Emma & Andy Hallam. Alex is now part of this Academy. Oadby Owls is a youth football academy with 350 members.

Rob Farrar, Chariman of Oadby Owls said “It seems like a perfect match!  Duchenne only affect boys and they are often only diagnosed when they reach the age of 5. It affects their ability to play sports like football.  As a result, it would be a great opportunity to involve all our boys, siblings and parents involved in the Academy to do something amazing and help boys with Duchenne so hopefully they will be able to continue to enjoy the sports they love most!”

Rob Farrar has also agreed to be one of Alex’s Wish’s Trustees.

We luck forward to working alongside Oadby Owls in the future.  For more information, visit www.oadbyowls.com
