We are so pleased to announce that we have successfully appointed two new Trustees to join our Board.

Sandesh Jesrani of Sharman Fielding Chartered Accountants and Alexandra Slack of The House of Lifestyle Management join their fellow Trustees from the 1st May.  Emma Hallam, Founder and Director of Alex’s Wish commented on the new appointments saying, “We’re constantly moving forward and developing as a charity and felt that both Sandesh and Alexandra have vital skills to offer us that will help us hugely to achieve our objective which is to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – an horrific life limiting disease that continues to devastate the lives of thousands in the UK every year.

“Sandesh has joined the Board of Trustees as Treasurer whilst Alex brings to bear her vast experience in both events and fundraising and will be an invaluable ally for my colleagues Zoe and Heidi who particularly focus on our events and fundraising activities.”

Speaking of her appointment Alexandra said, “Following a detailed interview process I was thrilled to receive an email from Alex’s Wish appointing me as a Trustee.  I have been keenly watching this wonderful charity from the side-lines for the last few years and have seen them go from strength to strength with Emma at the helm.  It was amazing to hear, first-hand, at the Annual Supporters Thank You Lunch about the incredible work Alex’s Wish continues to do locally to support Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – which is a ticking time bomb for any child or family of a child living with this horrible disease.

“I’m excited to be no longer watching from the side-lines.  Instead I am now fully involved and I hope I can add value to Alex’s Wish with my experience of events and of also working as a Corporate Fundraiser for LOROS Hospice for five years back in 2015.  I am keen to play an active part in helping Alex’s Wish raise more money so that they can invest it into finding a cure for Duchenne in the not so distant future.”

Fellow Trustee Sandesh added, “I am very excited and very happy to be joining Alex’s Wish on their Board of Trustees.  I’m looking forward to adding value and drawing on my previous experience within the charity sector from when I was a volunteer for Age UK.  I joined Alex’s Wish because I believe in the mission that the charity has and in what we stand for.  As I have more time to dedicate to something like this I wanted to jump in and give something back.”

Adds Emma, “As a small regional charity we greatly value the time all of our volunteers, ambassadors and Trustees dedicate to Alex’s Wish.  Without them we would not be where we are today so I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to each and every one of them.  I would also like to invite anyone who has some time available to get in touch with us as we are always looking for more people to help us!”
