We are thrilled at Alex’s Wish to have been awarded £30,000 from The High Sheriff of Leicestershire, Tim Maxted.

Tim Maxted is CEO of Leicester-based Berkeley Insurance Group, a privately-owned firm of Chartered Insurance Brokers and High Sheriff of Leicestershire for the term 2017-2018.  During Tim’s term in this role, he wanted to raise vital funds for local causes that were close to his heart. Following a meeting with Tim back in 2017, he decided to support Alex’s Wish at his charity ball held at The Leicestershire Cathedral on 1st December.  At this event, £50,000 was raised through the live auction, and £30,000 of this was donated to Alex’s Wish.

The cheque was presented during The Handover Ceremony of The High Sheriff of Leicestershire which was held on Thursday, 12th April at St Martin’s House in the centre of Leicester.

We would like to thank Tim and Lisa for all their efforts in organising the event and producing such fantastic results for Alex’s Wish. This is the single highest donation we have ever received since we launch the charity back in late 2012. All the money raised at this event will be invested in potentially life saving medical research to help bring about new effective treatments for all boys living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
