Coast to Coast Ride Raises over £10,000!!
September 17, 2020 1:12 pmWith many charity fundraisers cancelled due to COVID-19 one group of intrepid cyclists have just completed a Coast to Coast cycle ride for Alex’s Wish.
Event organiser, Zoe Edwards, from Alex’s Wish said, “This event actually lent itself really well to social distancing and other COVID-19 safety requirements. Our small group of five cyclists were supported in their endeavour by Andy Hallam, Trustee of Alex’s Wish and Alex’s Dad and his colleague, Will Watts of Hallam Read.
“Richard Frape, Richard Fielding, Darren Eaton and Andrew Rowland of Morgan Sindall, Birmingham were joined by Mal Rooney from Vehicle Vision in a two day challenge which saw them cycle across England – Coast to Coast on The Way of the Roses.”
Darren Eaton commented on the challenge saying, “The Coast to Coast cycle ride has been one of the most rewarding challenges I’ve ever done. Having been involved with a number of charity challenges the one thing that became clear was the difference that the Alex’s Wish team made to taking part in the event. The care and attention offered by their support team along with the pre-organisation made me feel really involved in not just the event but the charity itself. The ride was a fantastic way to cross the country and see places I’ve never visited before. Getting to the coast at Bridlington with the satisfaction of the miles in the legs and the amount raised for this fantastic charity made me feel elated and proud. Bring on the next one!!”
Colleague Richard Fielding added, “The event was an amazing extreme experience which I found inspiring. When you selfishly think it’s difficult you reflect on what it’s all about, get on with it and keep pedalling. Also, the relationships you form with people you have never met before are amazing.”
A spokesperson from Morgan Sindall, a long-time supporter of Alex’s Wish, added, “Bringing a team together in the context of a charity challenge provides a massive boost to all those involved both personally and as a team. The Coast to Coast Challenge was a way to provide a team building experience whilst also supporting our Social Value commitments. Involving some of our supply chain in supporting a local charity also offers a focus for wider team engagement and commitment. With companies like ours endeavouring to support Health and Wellbeing amongst staff, giving people the ability to take part in events like this can only help. Thanks to all at Alex’s Wish for partnering with us to make this happen.”
