So much to be grateful for

I’ve had a fantastic week – busy, productive and hugely positive!

We have so many events scheduled for the next 7 months. All to drive awareness about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and to raise vital monies to help fund the many trials that are happening around the world. A huge thank you goes out to the mums at Alex’s School for being so incredibly supportive.  Take one lady Emma Seville she has taken it upon herself to organise a Swimathon in aid of Alex’s Wish and we hope to raise £4k+ from this event alone. Amazing!! Thanks Emma for your support, enthusiasm and spirit to do this. Also a huge thank you goes out to Rachel Porritt who has agreed to run the Charnwood Forest Cycle Ride with 100% of all proceeds going direct to Alex’s Wish – this is a huge amount of work for her and she has kindly taken it on for us. We hope to raise £6k+. Carl from Gunn’s Gym continues to amaze me with his efforts to make our charity Boxing event be a huge success. Thanks to everyone who has signed up to our events. It’s down to people like this that help make charities like ourselves be so successful. Amazing!!

We saw our supporters run half marathons and thanks go out to Bernie Cusworth , Louise Amphlett and Michelle Thompson.  We’ve received many messages from people wanting to support us, the local press have been fantastic and we’ve had a lot of coverage recently. My Aunty Trish knows some famous footballers and is helping Alex’s Wish by organising a charity celebrity football match in the New Year which is incredibly exciting – this could raise up to £10k if not more! We’ve had a huge response to our Coast to Coast cycle ride scheduled for May 2013.  Plus our Clairvoyant evening is likely to be a sell out! Thanks Anna Casswell for your support with this event and putting up posters and banners around the villages.

Our Trustees continue with their great work – Caroline is organising an Alex’s Wish ball next year – this is going to a fantastic event and more details will follow.

Alex seems to be responding well to his cocktail of antioxidants. So in all a lot to be grateful for.

On the flip side I saw on facebook this week that we lost another DMD warrior in his twenties which is so sad. But what this does do is fire me up even more! We must put DMD in the history books where it belongs. Thank you to all our supporters please keep spreading the word and keep up the good work. :- ) X
