Slam Dunk! Alex’s Wish Launch Their Business Club

April 5, 2018 3:40 pm

It has been a great start to 2018 with the launch of a brand-new initiative aimed at reaching out and further engaging with the business community of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and beyond!

The Business Club has been created and supported by Janine Edwards of Janine Edwards Wealth Management Ltd, Principal Partner Practice of St. James’s Wealth Management and Gurdev Mattu, Managing Director of Fashion UK, two stalwarts of Alex’s Wish.  The Business Club launched on February 23rd at the home of Leicester Riders, Leicester Arena.  Commenting on the launch Janine Edwards of Janine Edwards Wealth Management Ltd said, “I’ve been involved with Alex’s Wish for over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed working with Emma and Zoe.  When they approached me with the outline idea of a business club I jumped at the chance to deepen my support of the charity by sponsoring The Business Club.”

Gurdev Mattu, Managing Director of Fashion UK added, “Since we got involved with Alex’s Wish back in the Summer of 2017 we’ve been looking at ways we can really help propel the charity forward.  The idea of The Business Club was one we liked and so, as a team, we were thrilled to get involved and help develop the concept further.  We were really looking forward to the event and it lived up to all our expectations.  It was a lively, fun and focused event which saw 15 businesses sign-up to become the very first Business Club members.”

Guests attending the launch of The Business Club were also able to watch basketball legends Leicester Riders take on the Sheffield Sharks for a nail biting match.  With Tyler Bernardini of the Leicester Riders becoming our Ambassador last year it made sense to hold our launch event of The Business Club at the home of the Leicester Riders.  The event included complementary food and refreshments served before the game and plenty of opportunity for businesses to network as well as learn more about Alex’s Wish and how they can get involved and help us to end Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy once and for all.

Tyler Bernardini, Captain of Leicester Riders spoke after the Alex’s Wish Business Club launch saying, “As a professional athlete we are given a unique platform and audience for whatever information we want to shout about. For me it is important that I use this platform to raise awareness about causes and efforts that can make a difference. Alex’s Wish is an amazing cause fighting to give young boys with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy a real chance to have a better and longer life.  I have been given a gift where I get to run, jump and play sport for a living.  I hope that I can have an impact on supporting a cause which will give these boys an opportunity to experience that same joy.”

We will be hosting our first ever Business Club networking event at Lumbers Jewellers in Leicester on Tuesday, 24th April, contact Emma Hallam at emma@alexswish.co.uk if you would like to come along and find out more out this exciting new business initiative.
