AMETEK Inc. donates $15,000

We are absolutely thrilled to receive a cheque for £9,400 (equivalent of $15,000) this week from Nick Maddock, Marketing Communications Manager at Taylor Hobson Limited. Nick is one of the dads from Alex’s school and an ongoing supporter of Alex’s Wish – regularly dedicating his time and skills to the charity.  Nick put Alex’s Wish forward to receive a charitable donation from their head company AMETEK INC. who only support charities who have special links with their employees and he was delighted to tell us last week that his proposal for the charitable donated was accepted!

This is the second cheque we have received from AMETEK INC. who very kindly donated $15,000 in December 2013. The final payment totalling $30,000 has been ring-fenced to specifically pay for two promising research projects: Kay Davies, University of Oxford: Development of small molecule up-regulators of utrophin for the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and George Dickinson, Royal Holloway (University of London): Development of dual/triple transpliced AAV vectors to restore quasi/full length dystrophin variants to muscle. Both of these projects are co-funded by the Duchenne Forum

We would like to thank Nick Maddock and his team for all their hard work in putting forward the proposals and to Frank Hermance, Chief Operating Officer at AMETEK Inc. for their very sizable donation, this will definitely make a difference!

Company donations are an invaluable source of income for Alex’s Wish, please get in touch if you think your company might be able to help us in the future.
